Part of every first-aid kit should be some gauze sponges in various sizes. The sponges are useful in cleaning wounds and dressing them as well as many other things. The Dynarex® Non-Sterile Gauze Sponges - 2" x 2" make a great addition to any doctor's office, nurse's station or home first-aid kit.
Each case of Dynarex Non-Sterile Gauze Sponges contains 25 bags each filled with 200 nonsterile gauze sponges per pack. In a single case, this gives you approximately 5,000 sponges which are adequate to split between several locations in your house or office.
Unfortunately, these gauze sponges are non-sterile meaning that they are not individually wrapped to keep out contaminants. They do come in a large package of which you can remove it from the carton and use at your discretion. However, if you are using these too clean a wound, you should use an anti-biotic appointment or other anti-septic solution to ensure the injury is clean properly.
These nonsterile gauze sponges are often used to help dress wounds that may be too large for a traditional Band-Aid. Of course, these are used in combination with gauze tape or other gauze bandages to keep them in place. You can also use the squares to clean a wound using rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide or warm water and soap. These devices are also useful in prepping a procedure area through the use of rubbing alcohol in combination with the cotton wipe.
While there are a variety of sizes for you to choose from, this particular product has a dimension of four square inches. These are an eight-ply gauze sponge with no exposed raw edges as the cut edges are folded in. This folding keeps the sides from unraveling before use. If you need a larger size, check with your local Sam's Club.
